More than teaching kids how to read and write, being a teacher is about calming students when they’ve had a rough recess, celebrating when they learn to tie their shoe laces, absorbing their struggles, channelling their joys and at THS, to help them identify and manage their feelings. Hefting this emotional labour is hard work and often invisible.
